The Scouting Range and Target Activities (RATA) program provides a safe and rewarding experience for Cub Scouts, Scouts, and Venture Crews. The proper Knowledge, Skill, and Attitude are emphasized by all Instructors, Coaches, and Range Safety Officers for the following discipline areas; Archery, BB Gun, Home Firearm Safety, Rifle, Shotgun, Muzzleloader, Pistol, and Tomahawk.

RANGE & TARGET ACTIVITES MANUAL - 2026 EDITION
This manual replaces all previous versions and has a revision date of 2026.
Cub Scouts may only participate in Range and Target Activities at a district or council event or activity, and are prohibited at the Cub Scout pack or den level.
The Guide to Safe Scouting states that any Range and Target Activities not detailed in our program literature or the National Range and Target Activities Manual are prohibited.
